One side of the islands get lots of rain, the other side not so much.
Add that to the fact that Hawaii is near the equator, and you get lots of growth.
A rain forest covers parts of the islands. In it we see exotic flowers and magnificent trees.
The Oheo tree is the first to break through the the lava.
