New Zealand Memories
Random things caught my eye in my travels through New Zealand. Lighting fixture. Flags. I noticed some aesthetically pleasing designs which will inspire me at home for projects.
The unfurling frond of the fern is a constant motif in New Zealand.

The Silver Fern is the national plant. At the botanical gardens in Christchurch, I found out what distinguishes the silver fern. The leaves appear silver underneath. And I viewed actual ferns in the act of unfurling.
My sister lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin (GO PACKERS!), so I just had to stop and take a picture in this suburb of Auckland. |
Since I own a Volkswagen, I kept a look out for that make of car in New Zealand. The preponderance were Japanese cars (just a hop, skip, and a jump across the ocean), but I did find some Volkswagens. At Piha beach, I was tickled to see this license plate. |
The changing scenery seen out the window of the bus was beautiful, and sometimes my jaw dropped from something surprising. What do you think of these sheep? |
