New Zealand Memories

The Silver Fern is the national plant. At the botanical gardens in Christchurch, I found out what distinguishes the silver fern. The leaves appear silver underneath. And I viewed actual ferns in the act of unfurling.

Since I own a Volkswagen, I kept a look out for that make of car in New Zealand. The preponderance were Japanese cars (just a hop, skip, and a jump across the ocean), but I did find some Volkswagens. At Piha beach, I was tickled to see this license plate.
