25th annual Zuni Festival of Arts & Culture May 23 & 24, 2015

On an overcast rainy spring day,
I set off with my friendsMuseumNAsky
to the Museum of Northern Arizona

We were fortunate that the Zuni Festival
was going on then as well.ZuniBand1

We saw arts and crafts laid out by the Zuni
vendors, as well as the museum exhibits.

A group of women dancers performed
while others drummed and chanted. ZuniDancers5
The dancers balanced pots on their heads
as they danced, to honor their ancestors.ZuniDancers4

The Museum of Northern Arizona

“MNA works in collaboration with native peoples of the Southwest to protect and foster the cultures, traditions and beliefs of the Colorado Plateau by encouraging artistic expression and supporting, empowering, and educating visitors about the art and cultures of Southwestern Native people.”

I highly recommend a visit.

There are ongoing Programs and Events.

And, of course, browse the bookstore and shop before you leave.
