The key lies in your relationship with them.
All thoughts come and go, but when we relate to them unconsciously, we identify with those thoughts and they tend to stick around.
When that happens, whatever we are thinking about affects our experience of life.
In order to experience more peace, we often think that the negative thoughts have to change.
Letting go the identification with the thought allows a different relationship to thought without needing to change the thought.
By allowing thoughts to be as they are, without identifying with them, they will move through the mind without causing friction or stress.
