it’s not really how well you dance hula, but how much you embrace the Hawaiian culture and participate in it that enhances your life, enriches your soul and raises you to a different level.”

— Kumu Hula Kēhau Chrisman

Look for the glee on my face and heartfelt appreciation.

One thing you may not know about me is that I have fallen in love with Hawaiian Hula and dance just about every day.

Now you can enrich you own soul too by taking advantage of this opportunity to see this wonderful hula group perform, including me!

Immerse yourself in the beauty and spirit of Hawaiʻi at the 20th Annual Hōʻike (Hula Exhibition Show) on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts, 280 Camp Lincoln Road in Camp Verde.

I’m honored to be among those dancing in this year’s show under the direction of Kumu Hula Kēhau Chrisman. She has spent more than 40 years teaching authentic Hawaiian hula and preserving Hawaiian culture, and I have been her student for three years. I and my hula sisters and brothers will perform hula representing each of the Hawaiian Islands — a heartfelt celebration of tradition, music, and movement.

The afternoon begins at 1:00 PM (doors open at 12:30 PM) with a captivating cultural presentation by B. Kaʻimiloa Chrisman, M.D., Hawaiian Cultural Scholar — and newly named Living Treasure of Hawaiʻi — who will explore old-time Hawaiian life and the history behind Apple TV+’s Chief of War.

Be sure to come when the doors open at 12:30 PM to browse Hawaiian-themed gifts at the Store and bid in the Silent Auction featuring unique Hawaiian artifacts, fine art, and a premier-quality ʻukulele. Proceeds benefit Aloha ʻĀina o Hawaiʻi, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Hawaiian culture through education and community programs.

The hula show follows the cultural talk at 2 PM and lasts about one hour.
