One September afternoon, I took my friend Kristy on the Black Canyon Trail in the Black Hills, which are the foothills of Mingus Mountain.
The afternoon light sculpted the hills in dramatic splendor.
We checked the view of the Verde Valley and the San Francisco peaks as we climbed higher and higher towards Mingus Mountain.
